The Fun Friday Post of Children's Book Week, 2017

Just before the day ends, here is my post for the day 4 challenge31-Day Challenge -  share a favorite quote. As we are also celebrating  Children's Book Week this week, and my posts for Friday were initially planned to be anything-fun posts, and for me, one of the things that is fun to do, reading, so here I share a couple of quotes - about reading; and from children's books - to cover all of them!!

“She read all sorts of things: travels, and sermons, and old magazines. Nothing was so dull that she couldn't get through with it. Anything really interesting absorbed her so that she never knew what was going on about her. The little girls to whose houses she went visiting had found this out, and always hid away their story-books when she was expected to tea. If they didn't do this, she was sure to pick one up and plunge in, and then it was no use to call her, or tug at her dress, for she neither saw nor heard anything more, till it was time to go home.” Susan Coolidge, What Katy Didthis quote is perfect for me, as my parents said exactly something similar to friends and relatives while visiting them and actually would ask them to hide the books so I would socialize, not be lost in a book!

And some more quotes from children's books I had shared in an earlier post along with other quotes.

"Have regular hours for work and play; make each day both useful and pleasant, and prove that you understand the worth of time by employing it well.  Then youth will be delightful, old age will bring few regrets, and life become a beautiful success, in spite of poverty."
“I've got the key to my castle in the air, but whether I can unlock the door remains to be seen.”
Louisa May Alcott, LittleWomen

“Nothing comes from nothing, Thieflet; no story comes from nowhere; new stories are born from old--it is the new combinations that make them new.”
Salman Rushdie, Haroun And The Sea Of Stories

“People can tell you to keep your mouth shut, but that doesn't stop you from having your own opinion.”
Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

And one of my favorite quotes (and my Pinterest byline!)
Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you. – Dr.Seuss

  1. Enjoyed the post! Great quotes. Anne Frank's, The Diary of a Young Girl, was one of my favorite books growing up.
