Fun Fridays - Shrek Forever After

Shrek Forever After (Single-Disc Edition)First, let me get the cons out of the way - this was one Shrek too many (also, the last installment in the Shrek series). That said, we all did laugh, a lot. This was like a mix of various fairy tale movies, some real-life ones, alternate realities, and with musical guest artistes including Enya (Sail Away – Orinico Flow) and Lionel Richie (Hello). It was a sweet (in a Shrek way) farewell for these series.
In Shrek Forever After, Shrek is facing “mid-life” crisis – his roars and swamp-mud baths are tourist attractions, his life a routine that includes constant diaper-changes. As he desperately wishes for what once was – even if only for a day – enters our villain ‘Rumpel’ short for (pun intended) Rumpelstiltskin, who offers him that day. In return, Shrek has to sign over any day of his past in a contract, which like always, has hidden loopholes and extra fine print. Shrek finds himself in an alternate reality of Far Far Away where no one he knows (Donkey, Puss in Boots, and even Fiona) know him. It is now up to him to reclaim what he lost in this sad and oppressed Land of Far, Far, Away.
Teaching you truths like ‘Be careful what you wish for, you might get it’ and ‘You never know what you had until you lose it’ and entertaining you with ogre-nose trumpets, a new set of villains (witches and Rumpel, of course) and a fancy Pied Piper – this movie is a nice watch.
